Pakistani carpet exporters are demanding higher tax rebates

The Pakistan association of carpet manufacturers and exporters (PCMEA) has asked the government to impose a 6.5 per cent tax rebate on carpets, like other textiles, in an effort to halt the steady decline in exports of the commodity since 2002. The association said in a statement that the rapid reduction of the tax rebate rate on carpet exports has made it impossible for Pakistani carpets to compete with Indian and Chinese carpets in price.
